| Photos taken at the Canal de Vergière, Crau, Southern
France, 20th of July 2001 |

Note: Le Canal de Vergière in the Crau region in Southern France is densely populated by this beautiful damselfly species. During our visit to the canal, there was a stron mistral blowing and most dragonflies looked for cover between the banks of the canal. Some dragonflies, like the Orthetrum cancellatum on the bottom picture, were obviously getting hungry, because they started eating bigger prey than they usually do: large damselflies. And the spiders also had food enough.
