Note: There's four color forms of the females of this species, two of which are on the pictures:

  1. typica: Segments 4 to 8 are black, the others red.
  2. melanogastrum: All abdominal segments are black.
  3. intermedium: All segments are red, with a black spot on each of segments 5 to 7 or 5 to 8.
  4. erythogastrum: All segments are totally red, like those of males.
