| English name: | Golden-ringed Dragonfly |
| Dutch name: | Gewone bronlibel |
| Photos taken at the Gardon de St. Jean, the 16th of August 2002, in Cabrerets, 12th of July 2001, and Pont d'Aribal, 9th of July 2001, all in Southern France. | |
Note: The largest species occurring in the Netherlands, though not in Europe: Cordulegaster heros can get a few millimeters larger. Sexing is easy: only the female has an ovipositor, which is HUGE and clearly visible. This species is extremely rare in the Netherlands, but in some adjacent countries, it's abundant.
