Lestes dryas
(male)
English name:
Scarce Emerald Damselfly
Dutch name:
Tangpantserjuffer
Photo taken at the Kampina, NB, the
Netherlands, August 1999
Note: Looks a lot like
Lestes sponsa
, but:
Lestes dryas is not only a bit larger than L. sponsa, but looks quite more robust.
Segment 2 of L. dryas is less pruinose than that of L. sponsa: only 2/3 of the segment is pruinose, with a clear border.
The appendices inferiores are spoonlike and bend towards each other. Those of L. sponsa are straight and therefore parallel.
