Note: Trithemis festiva males are unmistakable by their color: black with a very luxuous looking blue glare.
Note that there's a lot of variation in the amount of brown in the wing tips of Trithemis species. The male T. festiva in the middle photo has distinctive dark wing tips, the upper one has only a very small and vague dark edge and the bottom one has no dark wing tips at all.
